CHEESECAKE, SNOW, AND MELTDOWNS☃️

Got to put some of those extreme weather tips to good use this week, {first_name}!

Like many southern states not used to freezing temps and fluffy stuff, we got actual inches of snow in our neck of the Texas woods. 👀

And speaking of freezing - I know I'm not the only one feeling a bit like Bambi on ice as we juggle extreme weather, extreme news updates, and everyday life with kids who sure are missing lots of school this month 🫠

WE CAN DO THIS. I believe.

While I gather my more useful thoughts and prep to share more about how I can best serve this year (spoiler: I'm imagining a game of BINGO), I thought I'd share a roundup of a simple pleasures bringing me joy amidst the current chaos.

🍰 First up: Sharing the recipe of this delicious cheesecake we've enjoyed for 15 years now. It's such a staple in our fam that I finally made a blog post to make it easier to share. 🎶 Lofi Minnie: Focus. Didn't realize Disney was making moves in the lo-fi space, but this album / playlist has been key to our carpool and ambient tune rotations. (Click for the entertaining cover art, if nothing else.)

🍿 Back in Action on Netflix. Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Thought I'd fall asleep because we didn't start it till after 9pm, but it was a fun watch that held my interest! LedOL multiple times, mostly at the parenting jokes.

❄️ The snow itself was a delight. I love that it took its time melting so we could say goodbye and appreciate every last bit of it before resetting the house, which was covered in wet grass, gloves, boots, and towels.

🎬 Also loved taking home videos on my phone while strategically playing related songs in Apple Music because it's like creating an instant reel, just for the fam / camera roll.

Snow-day selections included: 1) "White Christmas" by Kenny Burrell (a December delight I shared recently), 2) "Snow" from the 1954 White Christmas soundtrack (a charmer), and of course 3) "Do you wanna build a snowman?" ☃️

🏀 The SILENT indoor basketball my sister gifted my 9yo at Christmas - google to find one for the dribblers in your fam! Genius.

🌌 Magic window vibes: Cozy northern lights winter ambiance like this one on YouTube.

☎️ The opportunity to call my elected officials (5calls.org is a great resource for this!) because whoa.

🩰 .... and the opp to dance around looking for the line between being an engaged citizen and neighbor and a hopeful mom and human.

Somehow it is STILL January, {first_name}...

And I'm still rooting for us.
