Trust Without Borders

Trust Without BordersWanna know something kinda crazy?

On Valentine’s Day, my business officially crossed into six-figure territory.

My brain is fuzzy, and my heart is full.

(I could also use a nap.)

There’s SO much I’d love to share about what I’ve learned over the past few months. But we’ve got plenty of time for all that.

Today I’d just love to share the song that was playing on my iPhone’s Pandora station at “the big moment” on Friday night.

It’s become a daily meditation for me lately.

Considering a focus on my faith is what inspired me to start this venture in the first place, the timing of this song was so, so perfect.

Hope you love it too.

“Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)”
by Hillsong United

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name

And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters

Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

Let me just tell you….

Since I committed to launching A Course About Copy before the end of my first year, the last two months have been a crash course in spiritual, personal, mental development, endurance, Infusionsoft…you name it.

I seriously may write a book about everything I’ve learned . (Definitely at least a few chapters.) There have been lots of great (sometimes unbelievable)) mini story lines every step of the way.

But I’ve gotta save those for another day.

Today I just wanted to share this crazy amazing song with you. And to make it clear that I didn’t originally start down this path to make bucket loads of money. (I definitely wasn’t thinking of six figures a year ago when – happily – making less than $14 an hour as a park ranger.)

I started down this path to share my gift…and the money showed up.

Trust without borders.

It’s a scary, messy, yet beautiful thing.

Also – I realize that talking about numbers and figures and timelines brings up a lot of STUFF for people. Here’s my reason for sharing:

If you read this post (or any of my posts) and feel a tug of “I want that too,” know it’s because “that” is possible for you.

(It’s ALL possible.)

You work your buns off to deliver great value, you stay in a good head space, you get the support you need…it’s just a matter of divine timing when you’re READY for it.

I truly believe it.

I don’t have a good targeted Q to ask today, but I’d LOVE to hear from you anyway. Whatever you feel led to share will be music to my eyeballs :)

Thank you x infinity for being part of this journey with me, friend.

We’re just getting started, and the future’s looking bright.

To trust without borders,

nik

  7. Ania

Nikki, you inspire me so much!!! I also did BSchool last year and had been working on my business about 2 years prior to that. Then I turned my personal world upside down and inside out in May and didn’t have the headspace or clarity to follow through, so continued plodding along providing great service to my small number of clients. Now things are about to change! Through success stories like yours, I’m learning about myself and how to tackle my business to make it a REAL business that actually makes enough money to sustain itself and me! I’m not there yet, but my whole being is tingling with excitement! Please, keep being you, keep doing what you’re doing, keep inspiring and motivating people like me who need you to be out there!
    With massive appreciation,
    Ania

    1. Nikki Elledge Brown

You have no idea how much that means to me, Ania. For real. Thank you for that encouragement.

And YES…a REAL business (with no air quotes needed) is a GREAT thing to work toward ;) You’ve got this!!

That very same song was playing on the car radio as I circled the block, wondering if I should really put a deposit down on this perfect-for-me office space.

I sign the lease in two days.

Thanks for the behind-the-scenes peek. <3

  16. Courtney Bowden

    Nikki,
This brought me to tears! The song stirred my soul. I am so happy for your success.
I have felt so drawn to you (not in a creepy way) but in a divinely “led” way since discovering you. I am also in B-school now and I feel on a very similar path and I admire you, your honesty and how you know and care to share your talents and gifts. It is inspiring! Thank you.

    1. Nikki Elledge Brown

Thank YOU for the lovely post, Courtney!

      Never creepy. Totally honored.

      Cheering you on, lady :)

  17. Cherrie Tam

Thank you so much for sharing your journey so openly and honestly. I’m just starting to discover the importance of faith and coming across this post when I did is a sign of that “perfect timing”. Trusting without borders can be so challenging sometimes, but I’m grateful that I found your page and will keep coming back for inspiration. :)

  18. Niki

Hello Nikki, from Niki (Nichola) in England. I heard this song a couple of weeks ago in church and loved the line ” Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders” but soon forgot about the song until last night(Saturday 5th July) BTW Happy Belated Independence Day, I heard it as a backdrop to a play. A play told and played by a Norwegian anorexia survivor – Very powerful.

So during my Q/T this morning I thought let me sing that song, not knowing the artist or the name of the song, I typed in my browser “Spirit, trust through borders” couldn’t remember the exact wording and voila your site came up!

I sang the song first and then I felt inspired to read your blog and girl, I was so inspired and became quite teary as I thought about your journey and the journey the Lord wants me to embark and my resistance namely because of fear and lack of confidence to do it!

Now, the lines “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders” resonate even more so for me and “Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander”. Why,? Because I sense that is where He, God, wants to take me. I just need to continue to listen to this “crazy, amazing, messy but beautiful song” if that’s what it takes and I shall begin to “walk on water”.

Thank you for your post, much appreciated and congratulations on meeting six figures, breaking through your borders of expectations but more importantly in believing in the Spirit and learning to “Trust without Borders” – PTL. All the best for the future and keep posting and trusting! Niki
