🦠🏕️🧼
Greetings from cootie camp, {first_name}...👋
Where the pulse oximeter is always an arm's reach away, and nobody leaves the house without an inhaler. Or two.
How are YOU doing / feeling over there??
We've been deep in the wheeze weeds over here for the past couple of weeks.
Been thinking about you while in and out of the pediatrician's office, but today is the first day that I've had enough brainwidth to tippy tap over to my laptop to get a bit of work done.
In my "if I had enough oomph today, I'd write an email" thoughts, I've mostly felt a call to share two relevant podcast episodes that I recorded years ago when we were in what felt like a never-ending loop of illness.
(That's also when the euphemism "cootie camp" first came to mind, as a way for me to make myself feel better about one of my most challenging seasons of motherhood.🙃)
Sharing because my focus these days is on our WHOLE life integration:
♻️ Taking care of YOU, taking care of BIZ, taking care of FAM. ♻️
Health challenges (like extreme weather challenges we've talked about recently) bring what matters most into clear focus.
🧹 Everything non-essential fades away.
🔬 Access to quality information and practical support is the top priority.
🫧 The value of simple pleasures (connection, nourishment, laughter!) is amplified.
I'd love to write more list-y, field-note-y posts to share tangible takeaways for future references, similar to the weather post, so our experiences could be useful to others.
Videos like this were key to helping me spot my daughter's respiratory distress, for example!
In the meantime, since I know we're not the only fam eyeballs deep in MyChart, humidifiers, and WTF news updates, I'd like to share these notes from 2022-23, still relevant as ever.
❤️🩹 How my toddler's RSV complications reshaped my approach to work.
❤️🩹 The power of creating businesses that allow us to step away when it matters most.
❤️🩹 Systems, assets, and practices that make life simpler when big events hit.
Relevant Qs worth considering:
💭 How can you make the most of margin when you have it, so that even when you DON'T you can still feel expressed, connected, of service, inspired, and well-compensated ...even when life throws you a curveball?
💭 What assets, systems, practices, and support can you put in place NOW to make life simpler when big events (opportunities, not just emergencies) require your full focus and attention?
📌 If you and/or your roomies are in a season of immunity-building over there, save these links for a rainy day --- for camaraderie and knowing you're not alone, if nothing else!
That's what I've got for today.
Having enough energy to write this (or any!) email was something I've been looking forward to for two weeks. A sparky treat. ⚡️
Our inbox connection is a simple pleasure that means a lot to me, so thanks for being here. Grateful you opened up today.
Hopeful that you and your roomies are healthy and well. ❤️
Back with more soon!
Could go on and on about these thoughts on resilience and agency - how self-care is inextricably linked to fam and community care, etc. Let's keep the convo going!
